This is a nice place with a beautiful view on mount Shasta. We used to go here every year for 5 years and really enjoyed it.
You get an awesome view of Mount Shasta when you canoe or kayak in the lake, or even standing at the beach area. I rented a kayak for an hour but they gave me the extra half hour for free since they close at 6pm and I rented at 4:30pm.
Also, the staff at check in was horrible! The women were incredibly rude when we made our reservation and acted
Like they didn't have time to help is. They were just as rude as check in to everyone that approached their booth.
I would give this place 5 stars if the personnel was responsible. In fact nobody seems care about guests here. Bathrooms are dirty, and bad in general. No bear lockers though bears are present in the area.
Lake is beautiful. The campground hasn't been updated in years. The bathrooms are FILTHY. They are disgusting and need a full overhaul. The campsites are also not well kept. The picnic table was broken and had splinters and rotted wood, we were unable to even use it. The RV hook ups are sub-par with weak amperage that is even less than what they advertise. They really need to invest in their facility and update/upgrade it.
Bathrooms. Prior to that, no one was hired to clean them. How unsanitary is that? At $29.00 a campsite, plus any extra people, the owners must be making a killing. Hopefully the new manager will be able to fix things. Oh, and we had bears 4 nights in camp. One night they came within ten feet of us sitting around the fire. That is dangerous!
Love this place; has it all. I get the frustration with not getting a live person or a call back, and that's a problem, work through it and keep calling, preferably in the morning, because it's so worth it. Roomy, wooded sites; store; restaurant; video arcade; outdoor movies; water toys; a serene, calm lake. This is family camping at its finest. We spend ten days here early each summer and love it. If my kids continue, they'll be third generation of spending a week at Lake Sis. This is a throw back to the old family vacation.
Beach personnel do not care what's going on the beach. If you have an incident do not expect any help from them. If you ask for help - be ready for non logical decisions. You better look for a help somewhere else than try to deal with them.
I came in the middle of the week in July and had a blast. My family and I only checked out the beach area so admission was only $1 per person. You can drink at the beach, just no glass bottles. You can bring your own food or grab something at their snack shack (pretty pricey).
Have camped at Lake Siskiyou for years. This was the worst experience in all that time. Bathroom maintenance was non-existent. The people picking up the garbage were replacing paper products in bathrooms. The first weekend we were there the bathroom and showers had heavy use with human feces in the shower and toilet paper left piled in the stalls. When we called the office, they sent the pick up crew to pick it up, but nothing was cleaned. Not once was the bathroom ever cleaned. As we left, we talked to the new manager that started that day. She knew of problems and said they were hiring some people to clean
Every year it becomes more expensive without any improvements, and every year it becomes worse!
The water is luke warm and once you start swimming around, your body immediately adjusts.
