Nice park, The Headwaters themselves were kinda underwhelming. We expected some raging geyser I guess.

Beautiful city park that features the headwaters of the Sacramento River. The water in Mount Shasta has got to be the best tasting water in the world! There's lots of lawn space. My main complaint with this park is the noise from trains and from the freeway.

A very nice park in general.

The water is snowmelt that is just now coming to the surface, so it is supposedly very pure. We collected some and it did taste perfect.

Headwaters of the Sacramento River. Streaming right out of the earth. Spiritual feeling. Great day use park, trail.

Instead there is a small "pond" and water coming out from under a 10 foot or so high Wall of rock. While we were there we saw a number of people park and walk in and collect the water in various containers ranging from water bottles to alhambra jugs.

If one hasn't been to the source of the grand Sacramento River, this the place to see in one's lifetime. It is considered most visited for Zen and Yoga artists and free-spirited adventurers. Its nearby public garden has the best fauna display around Mt. Shasta in the early summer (April to June). Yet, most memorable would be drinking the water at the Big Spring there. The spring spout out from underneath the mountains, and it has natural moss and mineral rocks to filter hard sediments, making it the best tasting water, so bring an empty canteen and fill yourself one of the most refreshing glacier water in all of California. Imagine you're drinking 10,000 year-old water, just released from atop Mt. Shasta.

This is a beautiful park & recreational area. The head of the Sacramento River with the most wonderful pure pristine waters. That tastes incredible. There is a grassy park area & playground. It has a great energy where you will meet an eclectic group of people.
