When planning my trip and stumbled over the Shasta Starr Ranch, I knew I needed to stay there- so I booked right away! I spoke to Kachina over the phone who was super helpful with setting up my reservations especially when I had to change the dates a couple times. When I got there, I was welcomed with open arms and so much warmth and love from the owners (Julian and Kachina) and the innkeeper (Rene). It didn't feel like I was staying at just any other bed and breakfast, I felt like I was staying with family. My bed was plenty comfortable and came with my own bathroom. My room (and the ranch itself) was clean, filled with so much character, beauty and history. It is plenty spacious to hang out in during the day (inside or outside) or even during the evening by the fire. The front porch gifts its guests with a beautiful picturesque view of the mountain- so definitely put some time aside to just sit and be on the front porch. I sat there a handful of times marveling at the mountain's beauty and diving deep into conversation with Julian. In the mornings, amazing Rene would whip up these delicious omelettes for me- best I've ever had- seriously! Staying at the ranch, I was able to really immerse myself with the energies of the mountain and town (it's only 5 min. to town and maybe another couple minutes till you get to the road that starts leading you up on the mountain). Whatever I needed to gain from my trip, I definitely gained- and the Shasta Starr Ranch was definitely one of the biggest factors to that. I will definitely be back here- not a matter of "if", more like a matter of "when"- no goodbyes- just see you all soon.
This place has a beautiful history and a beautiful set of accommodations. The staff is friendly and incredible. Sit on the front porch and enjoy some of their wine. Hopefully you get to meet their incredible bull dog named Bella. Their breakfast is great. The room I stayed in was gigantic and spacious. Each room is equipped with its own air conditioner so that you can control the temperature. Amazing private parking. You should play pool here or chess enjoy their giant television if you like. They have a very large grounds to enjoy yourself on. Overall I can't think of a bad thing here.
A beautiful place built in 1923 ,all room have antiques of the time period , quite ,great for all family events , social events , work related events, or just a romantic get a way for two . I would highly recommend this to any one who is just passing through , to locals, and any large event where a lot of room are needed. Every room has historical pieces that add to the charm and elegance of the Shasta star ranch bed and breakfast and the prices are great
I'm glad I experienced Shasta Starr Ranch. The customer service is bar none. Very clean. Pros: Atmosphere, customer service, views, breakfast, free wifi, dog friendly, kid friendly. Billiards and ping pong in the main house. Cons: Breakfast is only served for an hour and not much variety. Communal bathrooms in the 2nd building. Too soft pillows and the bed wasn't very comfortable. (Although this is my own opinion.)
Had a wonderful time staying at the Starr Ranch. The in itself is very quaint with a lot of history and wonderful views of the surrounding Mount Shasta area. The rules were clean and rustic reminiscent of the times that the house was built. The staff is extremely friendly and the grounds are very easy to walk around. There is a lot of board games and activities to do in the house as well as drinks on the porch. The breakfast was not too shabby either.
